About

After leaving College I was fortunate enough to gain employment at the Flotta Oil and Gas Terminal in the Orkney Isles on the marine side of the operation. At this time, the construction phase was almost complete and oil had been flowing for over a year. That same year, a move on to the Terminal kicked off a career path within the oil and gas industry including offshore production platforms, onshore oil and gas terminals and Aberdeen head office.

My career commenced on the ‘shop floor’ as a trainee oil and gas operator on shift work, progressing up through the succession planning route (including HSE Advisor), eventually becoming the Terminal Operations Manager (COMAH Top Tier Site).

During this period a broad range of experience and professional qualifications were gained, both sponsored and self –funded, in fields such as environmental management, health and safety management, emergency response, plant operations, projects, port security and training.

Currently a member of:

  • IIRSM (International Institute of Risk and Safety Management) Specialist and Trainer
  • IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment) Practitioner, Trainer and Corporate Member
  • CIWEM (Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Assessment) Member
  • IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) Technical and Trainer

While working in the Oil and Gas industry, my home life has been spent on the family farm. This has provided a grounded and practical attitude to work and problem solving.

My goal with the Consultancy business is to offer a wide variety of services to a broad range of industries, businesses and organisations while removing the mystique and fear of Regulations. In effect, bridging the gap between Regulators (Competent Persons), Regulations, Businesses, Organisations and Personnel.
